‘Cyberpunk 2077’ sales have already topped 13 million despite the game being pulled from the PlayStation 4

“Cyberpunk 2077,” the year’s most anticipated video game” has sold over 13 million copies, according to its publisher — and that number takes into account the people who returned the game.
Players reported major bugs after “Cyberpunk 2077” finally launched on December 10 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. 
The game suffers from particularly bad performance issues on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 
Just one week after launch, the game was pulled from the PlayStation digital store.
Both Sony and Microsoft are offering full refunds to anyone who bought the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Its developer is offering refunds regardless of where the game was purchased.

That sales number across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 4 includes the over 8 million pre-orders of the game that made the game profitable before it even launched on December 10.Notably, that number also includes the people who returned the game due to issues with how it runs.”This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms,” the note said, “factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts.”

Similarly, on the world’s largest PC gaming platform, Steam, “Cyberpunk 2077” is the first single-player game to take the number one spot on the charts in years. It also launched for PC through GOG and the Epic Games Store.But when the public finally got to play “Cyberpunk 2077” on December 10, players encountered a variety of wild bugs and technical issues.Some player saw tiny trees everywhere, and some were unable to complete missions because the game’s logic broke; some players reported crashes, and others reported extremely blurry textures.Just four days after the game launched, CD Projekt Red was offering refunds and apologizing. By one week after launch, Sony made the unprecedented move to outright pull the game from the PlayStation Store and offer refunds to anyone who wanted one. Microsoft followed suit soon after and offered refunds, though the game remains available to buy through the Xbox Store.
